ENGLEWOOD, Colo. -- The Denver Broncos will be without Pro Bowl cornerback Aqib Talib for their Sunday night showdown with the Oakland Raiders.Talib was sent for a cortisone injection in his lower back Friday and coach Gary Kubiak said he was optimistic that will help Talib return to the field soon.Talib missed Denvers 27-19 victory over San Diego last week when his back stiffened during the teams walkthrough the day before the game. He missed practice all of this week and traveled to California on Thursday for a second opinion on his back, which began bothering him two weeks ago.Bradley Roby started in his place last week and earned the AFCs defensive player of the week honors after making seven tackles, two pass breakups and a pick-6 of Philip Rivers.Roby said Sunday nights game, which pits two 6-2 teams and marks a revival of the rivalry that had faded in recent years -- along with the Raiders fortunes -- marks another opportunity for me to go out and show what I can do and help this team win.Hell team with Chris Harris Jr. to cover Michael Crabtree and, if he plays, Amari Cooper, who have accounted for 99 catches, 1,356 yards and eight touchdowns. Cooper is questionable with a back injury. We just need the young guys to continue to step up, Harris said. They dont have to do too much, just play their role. We still like our matchups, me and Robe and Doss or Kayvon, whoever plays, and so we feel like we can still cover them.Kayvon Webster (hamstring) returned to practice Friday and is questionable for the game. He got hurt after just a handful of snaps last week, and Lorenzo Doss stepped into the slot and had two big pass breakups, including a deflection on fourth-and-goal from the 2 with 2:40 remaining.Weve seen Doss, hes been around the ball forever, Harris said. I dont even worry about Doss because hes like a ball magnet. Hes just got those natural instincts that you cant coach. This is a perfect game for him to get a lot of picks. He could have had two last week, and then just think about it: nobody would be talking about being nervous that Talibs out because the dude just had two picks last week. The equalizer to losing Talib this weekend, Harris suggested, is having pass rusher DeMarcus Ware back from a broken arm to pressure Raiders QB Derek Carr.Having D-Ware back, that kind of takes away any of the losses, having that pressure right there, Harris said. As long as we get a lot of pressure on this dude, thats what its about.Ware returned last week after a six-week absence, but said he was only about 70 percent. This week, he proclaimed himself 100 percent. The moves that I did were more speed-type moves, just bending, ripping, going around the corner, trying to get to the quarterback and not using that arm when it came to power moves, Ware said. Now, I can.The secondary digging so deep into its depth is of little concern to star pass rusher Von Miller.Im not worried about any of those guys, Miller insisted. Weve got the best secondary in the National Football League ... Its still the No Fly Zone. The Broncos also are expecting to get back inside linebacker Brandon Marshall from a pulled left hamstring that sidelined him last week. Its doing a lot better, Marshall said. Im feeling good. Im excited to be out there with my brothers again. Also back is defensive coordinator Wade Phillips, who suffered a broken rib when he was plowed over by San Diego running back Melvin Gordon during Robys interception return for a touchdown.Phillips will likely coach from the booth rather than the sideline for just the second time as a coordinator. The seeds suggest Tsonga is the favorite, but Anderson had his best Grand Slam showing last year at the US Open, where he reached the quarterfinals, a run that included a win against Andy Murray. Tsonga has not played well since Wimbledon. But after his last match, he said the small imperfections in his game have been fixed.No. 7 Marin Cilic vs. No. 26 Jack Sock, second match on Louis Armstrong (Watch)Cilic is perhaps the last player anyone wants to run into right now. The 2014 US Open champ thrives on the hard courts of New York. Plus, hes coming off an impressive title run at the Western & Southern Open two weeks ago. Cilic has been broken just twice in his first two matches at the US Open this year. As for Sock, after a thrilling five-set win against fellow American Taylor Fritz in his opener, he settled in nicely. On Wednesday, Sock dismantled Mischa Zverev in less than 90 minutes.Ryan Harrison vs. Marcos Baghdatis, second match on Court 17 (Watch)Once the front-runner to be the Next Big Thing in tennis, Harrison had fallen on hard times, toiling in the anonymity of Challenger events. But Wednesday, he scored the biggest victory of his career, a four-set win against No. 5 and Wimbledon runner-up Milos Raonic. Harrison entered the US Open ranked a lowly No. 120 and made the main field only by qualifying. He credits his mental maturity as one of the reasons for his rebound. His opponent, Baghdatis, is equally interesting. One of the most charismatic pllayers on tour, the Cypriot was also one of the games highly touted future stars; in 2006, he made the Australian Open final but hasnt delivered anything close to that performance since.dddddddddddd Baghdatis beat Harrison in their only previous encounter, the 2012 Brisbane International.No. 13 Johanna Konta vs. No. 24 Belinda Bencic, second match on the Grandstand (Watch)No question Konta has to be worried about her physical state after a frightening incident Wednesday. Midway through her match on a hot, humid day, the Brit began to hyperventilate and ultimately collapsed to the ground, shaking and shivering. After a lengthy delay, Konta recovered and won. She is hopeful that with some TLC, Ill be good to go. On Friday, she will face Bencic, who has had a dismal summer. In her previous five events, she won only a single match. However, Bencic is coming off an impressive win against Andrea Petkovic on Wednesday.No. 20 John Isner vs. Kyle Edmund, fourth match on Louis Armstrong Stadium (Watch)The big question for Isner wont be whether darts will be flying off his racket or his desire to thrill the New York crowd, but rather how his legs will hold up. In two matches, the 6-foot-10 American has been on court for 6 hours, 21 minutes over nine sets. He was lucky to get by Frances Tiafoe in his opener, and his second match, against Steve Darcis, was a physical struggle from the beginning. It wont get easier for Isner. His next opponent, Edmund, is responsible for taking out No. 13 Richard Gasquet on Monday. Isner beat Edmund in the second round of the French Open earlier this year.No. 2 Angelique Kerber vs. CiCi Bellis, second night match on Arthur Ashe Stadium (Watch)? What a fairy-tale story it would be if 17-year-old Bellis could upset the No. 2 player in the world. Bellis loves the energy from the New York crowd. She has a growing legion of fans who call themselves Team CiCi. Its not the first time the California teen has stolen the spotlight in New York; two years ago, she stunned former Aussie Open finalist Dominika Cibulkova in the first round. Kerber, of course, will be a much more difficult test. She won her major, in Melbourne, earlier this year and then reached the Wimbledon and Olympics finals. ' ' '
