ARCADIA, Calif. -- The Latest on the Breeders Cup (all times local):6:45 p.m.The announced crowd of 45,673 was the largest for a Friday session at the Breeders Cup since the event added a second day starting in 2007.It was a 1 percent increase over last years Friday crowd of 44,497 at Keeneland in Kentucky.A total of $7,178,966 was wagered at Santa Anita, while the total overall wagering was $50,935,934.No one correctly selected the winners in the six straight races making up the Pick Six wager, leading to a two-day carry over of $511,261 heading into Saturdays second day of the world championships.The Pick Six, including the Classic, is expected to produce a total pool of over $4 million.---5:55 p.m.It was a losing first day at the Breeders Cup for the OBrien family of Ireland.Veteran trainer Aidan OBrien, his eyes shaded behind dark glasses, and son Joseph stood next to each other to watch the Juvenile Fillies Turf race.The elder OBrien saddled Roly Poly and Hydrangea in the race, while Joseph trained Intricately, who is ridden by younger brother Donnacha.Joseph is a former jockey and now a first-year trainer who is a few inches taller and the spitting image of his father.Aidan admits hes watching his sons horse during the race.I would only be wanting the lads to have everything fall their way rather than our way, Aidan said. For those reasons she was euthanized.---5:20 p.m.Corona Del Inca fractured her right front leg in the Breeders Cup Distaff.The 5-year-old mare from Argentina was pulled up at the top of the stretch by jockey Pablo Falero. Her leg was splinted and she was taken to the equine hospital at Santa Anita for X-rays and evaluation.Corona Del Inca has four wins in 10 starts in Argentina.---4:45 p.m.Beholder has edged even-money favorite Songbird by a nose to win the $2 million Distaff at the Breeders Cup, handing the 3-year-old filly her first loss in 12 races.Ridden by Gary Stevens, Beholder ran 1 1/8 miles in 1:49.20 and paid $8.60, $3.60 and $3 as the 3-1 third choice.It was the 6-year-old mares final race of her career, winning on her home track for trainer Richard Mandella.Songbird returned $3.20 and $2.80 under Mike Smith, who had guided her to an 11-0 record coming into the season-ending championships.
