Season-ticket holders are getting increasingly good treatment. The team has exclusive offseason nights at the stadium where they can mingle with different players, coaches and executives. Some season-ticket holders had special access at preseason practices, a scrimmage night at the stadium and at home games when they line the players entry path to the field. The Titans are working hard to provide perks to the people who invest the most and show the greatest loyalty.Whats badMany fans werent happy with the teams decision to stick with Mike Mularkey, promoted to interim coach last season, as the teams full-time head coach; hes ranked 116th overall, and worst in the NFL, in coaching. Mularkey was 18-39 in his time as head coach of the Bills, Jaguars and Titans, and a second chance for a guy with a bad record -- no matter how likable -- didnt seem to offer a cure to the Titans ills. That said, Mularkey has the respect of his players, hes a straight shooter who offers candid assessments with the press, and he has been a willing presence in the community. But its still too early to say if his smashmouth offense and partnership with new GM Jon Robinson will work.Whats newControlling owner Amy Adams Strunk has now been on the job for about 18 months, and she has slowly learned the ropes while making a lot of significant moves (shes up 14 spots this year, to 97th). The biggest was hiring Jon Robinson as general manager, and so far, so good for Robinson, at least as a personnel evaluator. The team overhauled the facility, totally recreating the locker room, and the stadiums relationship with Nissan has the building looking its best in years. The Mocs pass defense was fifth in the FCS in yards per attempt (5.81). Five of their 12 touchdown passes allowed came in the last two weeks, three to Alabama and two in what amounted to garbage time in the second half of last weeks 45-14 first-round rout of Weber State. The one vaunted passing attack they did face was Samfords, and Chattanooga held the prolific Devlin Hodges under seven yards per attempt in that 41-21 win.Theyre going to throw and catch, we cant get frustrated defensively, Huesman said. Theyve caught balls on everyone theyve played. We cant miss a tackle and let them go 65 yards or take bad angles and let them go for 50. They made a lot of people look silly trying to tackle them, so thats the most important thing is trying to get them on the ground.The Bearkats arent bad on the ground, either, averaging 5.5 yards a pop largely behind the duo of Remus Bulmer and Corey Avery while totaling 29 TDs.Theres similar balance at Chattanooga. Alejandro Bennifield gives the Mocs a quarterback who can move the pocket and make the occasional play with his feet, and he averaged 8.08 yards per pass attempt while tossing 25 touchdown passes with just seven interceptions. Behind him is senior tailback Derrick Craine, whos having his best season yet with 6.3 yards per carry.Keeler sees a lot of similarities to the team his Bearkats most recently faced.I think they are well coached and are a bit like UCA in terms of offense, he said. They can run the ball at you, but the quarterback can hurt you.The interesting matchup will be their offensive line versus our defensive line. If we can disrupt their run game and get a pass rush on the quarterback, if we do those things we will be fine.That means Chattanooga must contain defensive end P.J. Hall, one of three finalists for the STATS FCS Buck Buchanan award. The junior leads the Southland with 21 tackles for loss and three fumbles recoveries while his 9 1/2 sacks rank second.Its a lot to ask of the Mocs in their first game in Texas in 50 years. But with the FCS title game in Frisco, Chattanooga doesnt want to wait more than a month for another visit to the Lone Star state.Well, its not the big stage yet, Bennifield said.
